A clock made from a reclaimed 51cm (20") Sabian cymbal, with original logos and black numbers.
This particular cymbal has suffered serious damage at some point, hence the large cutout on the left-side of the clock. We do not know the exact history of this cymbal, but it is likely to have been badly cracked. When this happens, the owner will sometimes cut around the crack to remove it entirely. A cracked cymbal cannot really be played, but, as strange as it looks, sometimes the sound can be salvaged by cutting away the damaged piece. We imagine that the drummer cut the cymbal in a last-ditch attempt to save it, before deciding that the sound quality had been too badly compromised.
A shame, but it makes a great clock though, doesn't it?!
This clock has a hole at the top where it can be wall-hung using a strong hook, nail or screw, as seen in the final photo. Due to the weight of the cymbal, we do not recommend hanging this clock from the hook on the rear of the mechanism. It takes one AA battery (not included).
