Large Zildjian Cymbal Clock

A clock made from a reclaimed 51cm (20") Zildjian cymbal, with original logos and black numbers.
This particular cymbal has been cracked at some point, hence the cutout at the bottom of the clock. This was a makeshift repair, to keep the cymbal in use until it could be replaced. Cracking a cymbal is a disappointment for a drummer, but we love the visual effect!
So, why cut off the crack?
If a drummer continues to play a cracked cymbal, the crack will worsen, creeping in towards the centre. However, it can be stopped in it's tracks by cutting out the damaged section. It leaves an odd shaped cymbal that sounds quite different, but one that can still be played. The drummer in question kept using this cymbal until a replacement arrived.
This clock has a hole at the top where it can be wall-hung using a strong hook, nail or screw, as seen in the final photo. Due to the weight of the cymbal, we do not recommend hanging this clock from the hook on the rear of the mechanism. It takes one AA battery (not included).
